VISA DETAILS OF THE UK SKILLED WORKER

Visa details of the UK Skilled Worker

From the website

Skilled Worker visa allows you to get an eligible job with an approved employer. Irish citizens do not need to apply for a visa or for the EU Settlement Scheme. You must be able to speak, read, write and understand English. The specific eligibility depends on your job. You can apply for a visa up to 3 months before the day you are due to start work.

You can include your partner and children in your application to stay in the UK if they are eligible. If you need to go to an appointment, you may be able to pay for a faster decision. The EU Settlement Scheme is open and you can apply now. The deadline for applying is 30 June 2021. If successful, you'll get either settled or pre-settled status.

You must meet all of the following requirements to be eligible for a Skilled Worker visa. You must have a job offer from an approved UK employer before you can apply for a Skilled Worker visa. Each occupation code has a different annual salary requirements and 'going rate' table. If you do not meet the usual salary requirements, you may be eligible if your salary is at least £20,480 per year.

You will need to provide papers if you apply for a job in the UK. These include sponsorship certificates and evidence of your English knowledge. If you apply from overseas, if you do not have a chip you will require a blank page in your visa passport. If you are under the age of 28, you will require a certificate from each nation you have spent 12 months or more since you were eighteen. If you are 28 or older, you must have a university degree which is taught in English.

You do not need to show your understanding of English if you have completed an English language assessment that is approved by the appropriate regulated professional organisation if you are a doctor, dentist, nurse, parent or vet. The table will make it simpler for non-specialists to explain the system.

Varying methods of immigration need different degrees of English language skills. The exam level that you require depends on the route. See the particular advice for your immigration path to find out which level you require. Find an authorised test provider and accept the test. If you need to show your degree of English language competence, visas and nationality services are for you.

The service you need depends on the kind of proof you need. There are three kinds of papers you need to request these services. Check the papers to be requested. Your partner or kids must apply individually. Some health professionals and their families are given free visas because of a coronavirus (COVID-19) if they have the same employment as when permission is granted to visit or remain in the UK.

You need to get at least £20,800 each year if you receive your sponsorship certificate on or after 24 November 2016. Your pay may also include allowances for the duration of your stay, such as London weighting. The minimum wage requirement of £10.10 per hour does not apply until 6 April 2021.

There is a separate tariff for the Skilled Worker visa for certain occupations. Scientists are getting £26,100 ( £12,55 an hour); specialists in social sciences receive £20,300 (€9,76 an hour); teachers are getting £33,000 (£15,87) If your application is approved, you will get a new visa to perform both occupations. You will be informed what you have to do when you apply and how supportive papers will be provided if you require them. You may utilise the UKVCAS if you apply for a visa, a settlement ("unlimited permission to stay") or a nationality in the UK. If you have coronavirus symptoms (COVID-19) or because you are self-isolating, your immigration status will not be affected.

Find more about additional UKVCAS costs and services. You may use your Biometric Residence Authorisation (BRP) to prove your identification. The name, date and place of birth, the fingerprints, and a picture of your face are included in your BRP. A national insurance number (NI) may be put on the back of your BRP.

If you reside in the UK and have the right to work, you may apply for a national insurance number. You must also search for employment or have an offer in the nation to start work. You may not have to apply if you have misplaced your National Insurance number. Get a quicker decision on your visa or settlement request if you apply from inside the UK. If you are qualified, the 'priority service' may be selected while applying for a visa.

If you want to send your application elsewhere, you will need to change your address before your application is accepted. Labor days are Monday to Friday, nor bank holidays included.

Your work

To qualify for a Skilled Worker Visa you must fulfil all of the following requirements:

This visa is suitable for your work.

You will work for a UK employer authorised by the Home Office.

You will at least get paid the minimum wage for the kind of job you perform.

The minimum wage for the kind of job you perform is whatever of the three choices is the highest:

£25,600 annually

£10.10 an hour

The 'rates' for the kind of job you perform

Check whether you are eligible for your job.

You need to know its 4-digit professional code before you can find out whether your employment is eligible.

Ask your employer for your employment code if you already have a job offer.

Look up the code of your work.

You may look for your work using the ONS occupational coding tool if you do not know your code.

Not all job titles are listed. If your particular job title can not be found, try looking for related positions.

Make sure that the job description fits what you are going to perform. Some professions with identical codes have distinct codes, for example chefs and cooks. Chefs have the option of a visa for a skilled worker, but no cooks.

Check whether the occupation code for this visa is eligible.

Whether you know your professional code, check the eligible jobs table to see if it is listed.

The table is quite wide. It is ordered by the job code, with the lowest numbers on the top. You may use your web browser to search the page for your code.

Requirements for pay

Usually, at least £25,600 per year or £10,10 per hour is required, whichever is greater. If your job 'rates' are greater than these two, you will generally have to pay at least the current rate.

Illustrations

Your wages are £27,000 annually, while the yearly rate for your position is £30,000. You do not comply with the normal visa wage criteria.

Each occupation code has a distinct yearly rate. Check your current rate on the current rate table.

If you work in medicine or education,

When you work in certain healthcare and education professions, there are various compensation regulations where the current rate is based on national salary scales.

If you can pay less

You may still qualify if you do not satisfy your normal income criteria and do not work in health care or education provided the pay is at least £20,480 per year and at least £10,10 per hour.

Check whether less can be paid.

UK Endorsed Employers

Before applying for a Skilled Worker Visa, you need to have a work offer from a UK company accepted. Authorized employers are also known as sponsors as they sponsor you in the United Kingdom.

See the list of UK employers authorised.

If your employer is not already authorised, they are able to apply for a sponsoring licence.

They will have to pay a charge - £536 for small and charitable organisations or £1,476 for medium and big organisations. A licence application typically takes about 8 weeks.

If you have an already authorised employer's employment offer,

Your employer - also known as your sponsor - will verify that you satisfy the criteria for eligibility. They will offer you a 'sponsorship certificate' to verify this.

The sponsorship certificate is an electronic record, not a tangible paper. It has a reference number that you will need to apply for your visa.

You must apply for your visa within 3 months after receiving your sponsorship certificate.

Documents to which you must apply

You will need to provide: When you apply:

Your sponsorship certificate reference number - this is what your company will offer you.

Proof of your English knowledge

A valid passport or other paperwork that indicates your nationality and identity.

Your employment and your yearly pay

The job code for your job

Your sponsorship certificate will contain your employer's name and your sponsor's licence number.

Ask your employer if you do not have one for a copy of your sponsorship certificate.

If your sponsorship certificate was issued before 1 December 2020,

Your sponsorship certificate must be amended since it was issued to you prior to the Skilled Worker Visa being replaced by the Tier2 (General) work visa.

Ask your company to amend the UK immigration sponsorship system's 'sponsor note' area.

You may require further papers

You may be required to give, depending on your circumstances:

proof showing you have sufficient personal funds in the UK, e.g., bank statements (unless your certificate of sponsorship shows your employer can support you).

You must give evidence of your connection with your spouse or children if they apply to you.

If you are from a specified nation, your TB test results.

You will require a certificate from each nation where you have lived for a total of 12 months or more since you were 18 years old if you are under 28.

If you are 28 or older, a certificate from any nation in which you have stayed during the past 10 years will be required.
