The Canadian government does not accept paid advocates who are not authorised to represent you and will return your application if this is the case.


Anyone other than an authorised agent is prohibited from providing immigration advice for a charge.


To safeguard the public, the government has created law governing who is permitted to provide immigration advise (see "IP 9-Use of Representatives" at www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/ip/ip09-eng.pdf).


Applicants must indicate whether they sought immigration counsel or help in drafting an immigration application from an authorised person. It is the applicant's responsibility to guarantee that the representative is authorised.


That is, you are responsible for ensuring that any agent you employ to help you is legally permitted to do so.
