KNOW ABOUT CANADA FEDERAL SKILLED WORKER CLASS

Nick Noorani & Catherine A. Sas, QC, in their book, Immigrate To Canada, outlines that,

Traditionally, coming to Canada as a federal skilled worker has been the most common way to enter the nation.

Most candidates are unaware that the application procedure is becoming more stringent.

Someone who was qualified 10 years ago may not be so now.

Someone who was qualified 10 years ago may not be so now. That's because far too many competent employees who came here in search of a better life were let down.

They did not discover the possibilities and achievements that they had hoped for in their area of competence.

While the majority of recent immigrants have educational credentials that surpass those of the Canadian population, many are still unable to find job that is consistent with their education and job experience.

The following are some of the reasons why immigrants fail:

* They aren't well prepared before they arrive.

* Their linguistic abilities are insufficient.

* They lack the necessary soft skills (e.g., communication, interpersonal, and presentation abilities) that Canadian businesses need.

* They have irrational expectations.

* They believe they are victims.

* They are reluctant to change and refuse to accept the fact that they must adjust to the way things are done here.

Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) has updated and will continue to adjust the standards of the Federal Skilled Worker Class of immigration in recent years in order to increase immigrants' prospects of success in Canada.

In May 2013, the latest iteration of Canada's federal Skilled Workers' (FSW) programme was published, overhauling the criteria for selection under this category.

The most current programme adjustments went into effect on May 1, 2014.

The goal of continuous improvements to the FSW programme is to improve a new immigrant's prospects of swiftly integrating into the Canadian workforce by emphasising the age and language ability of both the lead applicant and his or her spouse.

The position of Minister of Immigration changes on a regular basis.

Check the FSW programme requirements on a frequent basis to determine whether you are qualified to apply.

In previous years, CIC only evaluated applications from qualified professionals and craftsmen with expertise in a certain list of prohibited professions and the ability to demonstrate economic adaptability in Canada.

The FSW is still limited to specified occupational groups.

This immigration class does not handle cases involving professionals who want to come to Quebec since Quebec has its own skilled worker programme.

Note: Beginning January 1, 2015, the FSW programme will be included into the new Express Entry programme.
