KNOW CANADA VISAS ELIGIBILITY AND THE POINT SYSTEM
Nick Noorani & Catherine A. Sas, QC, in their book, Immigrate To Canada, outlines that,
To be eligible to apply as a skilled worker, you must fulfil the following criteria:
* Have sufficient work experience in one of the acceptable jobs mentioned.
* Achieve a point total of 67/100.
* Provide the results of a language competence exam.
* Provide a copy of your educational credentials for review.
Please consult the Government of Canada's site "Have Your Education Assessed-Federal Skilled Workers" (www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/assessment.asp) for further information about authorised language-testing services or educational-verification services.
Whether you do not fulfil the qualifying requirements, do not apply as a federal skilled worker; instead, examine if you fit the qualifications in other classes.
If you satisfy the qualifications, your application will be evaluated using a scoring system in which you gain points based on the six selection considerations listed below:
* Language skills.
* Your age.
* Formal education.
* Previous work experience
* Flexibility.
* Arranged for work in Canada.
If your score is less than 67, you should not begin the application procedure since your application will most likely be refused.
It is preferable to focus on certain components (for example, education, job experience, and language) in order to attain a higher score in the future.
Based on the information in the following sections about the scoring system, you may estimate your possible score.
If you want to immigrate with your spouse or common-law partner, you should compute your scores together and pick the applicant with the highest score to be the primary applicant.
