Is it beneficial to arrive early, or will I just spend more money and increase my study costs?

I highly advise you to arrive early. Make plans to arrive at least two weeks in advance, if not more. This will allow you to recover from jet lag and get acquainted with the city. It will give you enough time to find and select a comfortable place to live, as well as to get a net connection, open a bank account, and obtain a city bus-metro student monthly pass (a very useful subsidised pass that will help you move around and get to know your new city), among other personal items. It will also assist you in getting to know your institution and making friends from your nation or community who can better advise you. The great aspect is that you will be rested and ready to begin your course with zeal.
