Security

Seatbelts are required by law for all passengers in a vehicle. Children under the age of 12 may need special booster chairs. Drivers and passengers on motorcycles must wear safety/crash helmets.

Cell phones

It is illegal to use a cell phone while driving. Offenders will be fined £30 initially, with a maximum punishment of £1,000 imposed if their case proceeds to court. Those who violate the prohibition will get three penalty points on their licence for each infraction. Under existing legislation, motorists may only be penalised for using their cellphones if they fail to maintain adequate control of their car.

Limits on speed

All vehicles, 30 mph in built-up areas (48 kph).
Single carriageway speed limit: 60 mph (96 kph) for vehicles, 50 mph (81 kph) for automobiles carrying caravans or trailers, buses, and coaches.
On highways/highways, the speed limit is 70 mph (112 kph) for vehicles and 60 mph (96 kph) for automobiles pulling caravans or trailers.

Car mishaps

If you are engaged in a collision, you must come to a complete stop. Give the other drivers your name, address, vehicle registration number, and insurance information. If someone is hurt, you must also notify the police by dialling 999 or 112. The police will want your contact information as well as a narrative of the circumstances leading up to the collision. If the collision was your responsibility, the sort of insurance you have will influence whether your insurance company would pay for any damage.

Individuality

You may be required to establish your identification on a variety of times, such as when establishing a bank account, applying for a job, or renting housing. 

In the United Kingdom, the following papers are often used as evidence of identity:
• Passport 
• National Insurance Card 
• Driving licence (provisional or complete) 
• A recent energy bill 
• Rent book 
• Benefits book
• Correspondence from the Home Office verifying your identification and immigration status in the UK if you are a foreign national
• If you have an Identity Card for Foreign Nationals (ICFN), show it.
