• Secondary visa holders (dependents of the main visa grantee) of Subclass 188 visas in the Significant Investor Stream, Significant Investor Extension Stream, or Premium Investor Stream cannot apply for a Permanent residence Visa Subclass 888 in their own right at a later stage unless they were the primary visa holder's spouse/de facto partner and that primary visa holder died. Business Innovation, Business Innovation Extension, and Investor Streams are exempt from this requirement.

• After satisfying the necessary conditions, holders of Subclass 188 Visas should apply for a Permanent Residence Visa, Subclass 888, in order to become permanent residents of Australia.

• Income received in Australia through a commercial activity or investment is taxed under Australian taxes legislation.

How to Use

To apply for a visa under Subclass 188, you must first submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) to SkillSelect and then get an invitation from this online service.

SkillSelect is a web-based solution that assists Australia in managing its skilled and business migration programmes.

To submit an online visa application, you will need an ImmiAccount.

To transmit supporting documentation by postal mail:

Send your papers to the Australian Consulate General in Hong Kong if you reside in the People's Republic of China (PRC), Hong Kong (SAR), Macau (SAR), or Taiwan.

If you reside elsewhere, submit your papers to the Department of Home Affairs Visa and Citizenship Office (Attention Adelaide Business Skills Processing Center), GPO Box 2399, Adelaide SA, 5001, marked "Attention Adelaide Business Skills Processing Center," by registered mail.

If you apply via the Entrepreneur Stream, you will be able to electronically submit your supporting papers together with your visa application.
